Hope COUNSELLING

Hope Counselling Support is a counselling service situated at St Paul and St Barnabas Parish Church, 210 York Street, Belfast, BT15 1EN.

While counselling takes place within in a church setting, the service offered is not necessarily a faith-based one, but can be, depending on the client’s needs.

Hope is run by fully qualified, experienced counsellors and is free for service users, although a small donation can be made to assist with heat and electricity.

SOME MORE INFORMATION ABOUT HOPE

Hope Counselling Support is expanding its reach and increasing its client base through continuous networking, meetings, and advertising efforts with statutory and voluntary agencies. This approach has resulted in an increase in referrals and successful client engagement. Our goal is to enhance these efforts further and connect with more individuals who could benefit from our services.

Currently, a significant number of clients have sought help from Hope Counselling Support after being directed to us through various channels. These include referrals from organizations such as Aware NI, Engage Project (via Start360), GP surgeries, Addiction NI, Association of Christian Counselling, Church Groups, and self-referrals.

Our counselling sessions typically take place every week, lasting 50 minutes each. Initially, we offer six sessions, with the option to extend if necessary. By engaging in our support, individuals gain access to a confidential space to freely discuss their thoughts, feelings, and any distressing aspects they may be experiencing. It is often said, "I learn more about myself as I hear myself speak."

Hope Counselling Support has successfully assisted people from diverse backgrounds, spanning various age groups and genders. Our services have helped individuals dealing with issues such as low moods, depression, suicidal ideation, suicide support planning, anxiety, anger, abuse survivors, family conflicts, grief, trauma effects, and addiction recovery. We eagerly look forward to supporting even more people in the future, addressing various presenting issues.

Our counselling service is free; however, donations are welcomed and contribute to maintaining and expanding the service, allowing us to reach as many individuals as possible who can benefit from this invaluable support.

To conclude, we would like to share some feedback from one of our clients about their experience with Hope Counselling. This feedback, directly quoted from an email, reflects their favourable impression of our service thus far: "I think the service is amazing and, as I've mentioned before, I find it incredibly beneficial. The counsellors are amazing and very approachable, making it easy for me to open up. The church provides an excellent location as it is peaceful and always accessible."
